Battle Mountain’s Nevaeh Serna traveled to Plantation, Fla., for the 33rd annual Winter Championships at the Plantation Aquatic Complex from Dec. 6-10.
This was the largest meet that Serna has been to.
Over 10 countries, 67 swim team, and 1,500 swimmers competed in the championships.
Serna did well, making one final, one alternate and swam four personal bests.
Serna placed eighth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2 minutes, 23.99 seconds.
She finished 11th in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:08.51, a .46-second improvement. That was one spot away from advancing to the finals. She was beat out by .41 seconds by Aiden Charette from the Greenwich YMCA Marlins in Greenwich, CT.
Serna took nearly two seconds off in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:10.76 to place 22nd.
Serna placed 15th in the 50-yard backstroke (32.43), 26th in the 200-yard individual medley (2:37.29), 41st in the 50-yard freestyle (28.91) and 51st in the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.95).
