The Battle Mountain High School wrestling team hit the road for Idaho last weekend for the Donnelley Duals at Capital High School in Boise. The reigning 2A state champions saw some of its toughest competition all year.
The Longhorns took part in five duals, dropping them all to the Idaho schools.
Eagle 71,
Battle Mountain 12
The Longhorns’ Cruz Jimenez at 120 pounds defeated Cade Killian by pin in 67 seconds and Liam Bundrock pinned Kobe Humphries in the first period.
Battle Mountain did not have a wrestler in the 98, 106, 138, 182 and 195-pound weight class. Eagle won seven matches by decision and one by technical fall.
Borah, 53,
Battle Mountain 29
Battle Mountain was much more competitive with Borah in it second dual. Jimenez earned a 14-2 win over Nolan Hackey at 120 pounds and Bundrock needed just 49 seconds to pin Yagnik Pandya.
Kail Bengoa collected six points for the Longhorns with a pin of Mason Navarro and Wyatt Madalena earned a 12-10 win over Loran Allen at 160 pounds.
Ben George won by forfeit at 285 pounds and Leo Mathais beat Liam Fuller 15-5.
Columbia 36,
Battle Mountain 30
In the closest dual of the weekend, Columbia squeezed out a six-point win over Battle Mountain. Both teams double forfeited at 98, 106, 132 and 182 pounds.
Dani Madalena picked up a win by forfeit at 113 pounds, as did Wyatt Madalena at 160 pounds. Jimenez improved to 3-0 on the day, with a 38-second pin of Jayden Proctor at 120 pounds and Bundrock pinned Bode Sheppard in 53 seconds.
George notched the other win for the Longhorns at 285 pounds with a 40-second pin of David Romero.
Meridian B 60, Battle Mountain 18
Jimenez and Bundrock completed a perfect day with pins at 120 and 132 pounds. Wyatt Madalena scored the other six points for Battle Mountain with a second-period pin of Hezekiah Suter.

In the final dual of the weekend, Battle Mountain took on host Capital. The Longhorns grabbed a 12-6 advantage in the early going after wins by Andy Wall at 152 pounds and Wyatt Madalena at 160.
Capital came back with four straight wins to lead 30-12, when Geroge stopped the run with a pin over Bodie Vian.
Capital won the next three duals to secure the victory, but Jimenez and Bundrock completed a perfect weekend with a forfeit win and a victory by pin, respectively.
Battle Mountain traveled to Elko on Wednesday for a dual with the two-time 3A state champion. The Longhorns travel to Winnemucca on Friday and Saturday for the Cody Louk Invitational.
