The McDermitt High School boys basketball team saw its season start this past Friday and Saturday the Winter Invitational in Reno.
The tournament features JV schools from the 4A and 3A and some 1A and 2A varsity schools as well.
The Bulldogs played a pair of contests on Friday at North Valleys High School, losing the opener 69-24 to Manogue and 50-41 to North Valleys.
McDermitt moved into bracket play on Saturday at Damonte Ranch High School and lost 49-26 to Oasis Academy. The Bighorns moved up to the Northern 2A this season, after playing in the 1A from its opening in Fallon.
Oasis Academy doubled up McDermitt 14-7 in the first quarter and did not allow the Bulldogs to score double figures in any quarter.
Oasis Academy led 27-12 at halftime and outscored McDermitt 16-7 in the fourth quarter.
McDermitt will have some time off before traveling to Susanville, Calif., on Dec. 15-16 for the Super 8 Classic.
The Bulldogs travel to Pyramid Lake on Wednesday, Dec. 20, for a non-conference game with the Lakers at 6:30 p.m.
