The Pershing County High School volleyball team got its feet wet and are ready to start league play.
The Mustangs competed in the Battle Mountain Tournament last Friday and Saturday.
The vVarsity played at the high school while JV competed at the junior high with their new coach, Faith Moreira.
In Friday's round robin the Mustangs beat Elko JV, White Pine, Wells and Spring Creek JV in two sets each.
They finished first in the pool and got back to Lovelock in time for the football game.

"It was exciting seeing my girls complement each other's teamwork. We had hustle and made some dynamic plays," said head coach Monica Halverson.
The varsity girls started Saturday's elimination tournament with a bye. Meanwhile, Battle Mountain beat Wells. Next, Battle Mountain and Lovelock competed.
"The Mustangs started out rough, missing serves, hitting the ball out and not communicating on serve receive and defense. Battle Mountain outplayed us and we lost in three sets. It was a sad loss but we learn and go back to practice on things that will help us the next time we play Battle Mountain," said Halverson.

JV won their first match against West Wendover and lost to White Pine.
On Wednesday, Aug. 30, the girls went back on the road to begin league play against Oasis. Results were not available at press time.
On Saturday, Sept. 2, the Mustangs venture to Silver Springs to play the Nighthawks. They're back on their home court on Wednesday, Sept. 6, against CASR-Reno.
