The Battle Mountain High School softball team remained in the hunt for the top seed for the Northern 2A Regional Championship in May with a three-game sweep of North Tahoe this past weekend in Battle Mountain.


The Lady Longhorns won the opener 15-0 in three innings on Friday night in dominating fashion.


Battle Mountain scored 11 runs in the first inning in Saturday’s first game en route to a 19-0 victory in three innings as well. 


The series finale was closer until Battle Mountain pulled away in the bottom the fourth inning. 


The Lakers cut the Lady Longhorn lead 6-3 in the top of the fourth inning, when Battle Mountain scored 14 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to end the contest.

Battle Mountain hosted Pershing County on Tuesday and results were not available at press time.


The Lady Longhorns travel to Lovelock on Saturday for a doubleheader at 10 a.m. 


Pershing County leads the Northern 2A at 14-0, followed by Battle Mountain at 12-0. 


Yerington (6-6) and West Wendover (4-6) are third and fourth, respectively.
