PCHS softball goes 3-0 against Yerington

The Pershing County High School softball team stretched their winning streak to 18 games this past week. 


On Tuesday, April 11, they traveled to Yerington for the first game of a tripleheader. 


The Mustangs beat the Lions 18-4. This past Saturday, the Mustangs hosted the final two games of the series and won both (18-3, 12-2).


"Our girls have been working hard these past few weeks and it showed on the field," coach Jordan McKinney said. 


Pershing County improved to 13-0 in the 2A. They're at the top of their league, followed by Battle Mountain (9-0), Yerington (6-6) and West Wendover (3-6).


Taylor Garland and Raegan Burrows shared pitching duties for the week. Garland pitched the opener and the nightcap. Burrows pitched the middle game.


"It's great to have options on the mound and know both girls can rise to the occasion and do their jobs," McKinney said. "I'm proud of how well they're playing as a team. They're coming together at the right time. Everything is clicking for them. They're hitting and fielding well. Kaylen Halverson and Aaliyah Allen are crushing the ball."


On Wednesday, April 19, Pershing County traveled to Incline. Results were not available at press time. 


On Tuesday, April 25, Pershing County goes to Battle Mountain. 


On Saturday, April 29, Pershing County hosts the Longhorns at 10 a.m. and noon.
