Lowry softball loses non-league contest with Reno

The Lowry High School softball team stepped out on Northern 3A play and traveled to play Reno on Tuesday, April 4. 


The Huskies knocked off the Lady Bucks 9-4, handing Lowry is second straight loss.


 Lowry is now 9-3 overall and 2-1 in the Northern 3A East.


Reno grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, when Lowry tied the game in the top of the third on a solo home run by Savannah Stoker.


The Huskies took the lead for good with a run in the bottom of the third inning and scored four more runs in the fourth to go in front 6-1.


The Lady Bucks got three of those runs back in the fifth inning on a sac fly by Shelbie Hoyt to score Jada Matheny and Stoker adder her second home run of the day, this time a two-run shot to score Megan Cook.


Reno added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings to hold on for the win.


Stoker was 3-for-3 on the day, with three RBI and two runs scored. Maddison McClure, Cook and Matheny each had a hit.


Bree Dunckhorst started and threw three innings. She allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits. She walked two and struck out one. Natalya Guizar pitched an inning and gave four runs (two earned) on one hit.

Lowry hosted Reno on Tuesday and results were not available at press time.


The Lady Bucks travel to Fernley on Friday for a single game at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m.
