Battle Mountain NNA swim team competes at NNA Age Group Open

The Battle Mountain NNA swim team was back in action on March 25-26 for the 2023 NNA Age Group Open. 


Once again, the squad provided a number of good finishes.


Nevaeh Serna brought home a number of first-place finishes on the weekend. 


She won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:07.24, the 200-yard individual medley (2:40..11), the 50-yard butterfly (33.39) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:21.28).


In addition, Serna took home the top spot in the 100-yard individual medley (1:17.22), 100-yard backstroke (1:12.69), the 100-yard butterfly (1:21.01) and the 50-yard backstroke (34.11). 


She earned a runner-up finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.46 and was fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke at 40.03.


Serna was the high-point winner in the girls 11-12-year-old division with 64 points.


In the 9-10-year-old boys division, Weston Reiva won the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:37.45. 


Reiva was the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke (1:32.52), the 200-yard freestyle (2:47.06), the 50-yard backstroke (43.42) and the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:14.25. He was third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 34.72.


Reiva was high point in his division with 42 points.


In the 9-10-year-old boys division, Daxon Bakker won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:56.43 and was second in the 50-yard breaststroke (53.46). 


Bakker placed third in the 200-yard freestyle (3:06.55), third in the 100-yard individual medley (1:41.62) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:38.43). 


He finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (38.15), fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:22.40) and fourth in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 45.54.


Shayne McMillin placed sixth in the girls in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:15.11 in the 13-year-old-division.


Michael Lovelace swam in three events, with personal bests in all three events. 


Sage Bakker moved up to the 10-11-year-old age group and swam well in all of her events
