The Lowry High School track and field team finally got some time at a meet this year and provided a strong showing in Battle Mountain on Friday.
Hannah Thompson led a 1-2-3-4 finish in the pole vault with a mark of 7 feet, followed by Ashley Rookstool, Ashlyn Bottoms and Elma Jimenez. Sydnee Pettis won the long jump with a mark of 16-3.5, as well as the 100-meter dash at 13.12.
Caryn Sanchez grabbed the top spot in the discus with a throw of 82-1, while teammate Isabella Bartell (69-5) was sixth.
Maite Avalos won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.49, followed by Bottoms in sixth at 21.22. Avalos added a third-place finish in the 200 meters at 28.71.
Brooklyn Swensen took home the top spot in the 800 meters at 3.13.5 and she was fifth in the 1,600 meters (7:16).
Kianna Head placed second in the triple jump (28-5), third in the high jump (4-4) and fourth in the long jump (12-10).
Kepa Hilbish finish second in the 200 meters (28.54) and third in the 100 meters (13.04), while Mia Hernandez placed fourth in the 100 meters in a time of 14.03.
Alivia Galvan and Adajah Milam were fourth and sixth in the 200 meters, Elizabeth Carrillo placed fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:18.6. Tiariana Weatherspoon and Janiece Washington were fifth and sixth in the high jump and Weatherspoon and Kalani Arriola were fifth and seventh in the long jump.
The 4x100 relay finished first and third, the 4x200 relay was first and third and the 4x400 relay placed second.
On the boys side, Nomar Aguirre won the discus with a throw of 149-4, followed by Tyson Terry in second, Jesse Jeronimo in fifth and Ryan Arrien in seventh. Jeronimo won the shot pout at 45-3, followed by Aguirre in second, Terry in third and Arrien in seventh.
Kaid Sanchez led a 1-2-3-4, 6 finish in the pole vault, followed Shaun Gilliland, Shane Gilliland, Carson Primeax and Rogelio Hernandez. Shane Gilliland placed thirds in the high jump at 5-4 and Austin White and Anthony Martinez were fourth and sixth, respectively.
Braden Hammargren, Conner Nelson and Corbin Berezay were second, third and fourth in the triple jump and Hammargren Sanchez, Jeremiah Grasmick, Timothy Patchen, Nelson and Primeax placed third, fourth, sixth, seventh, eighth and 10th in the long jump.
Devin Gomez placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.72, with Patchen seventh and Ryder Huitt (48.40) and Deven Gomez (49.14) were second and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
Sanchez (58.37) and Huitt (59.74) were second and fourth in the 400 meters and Ryan Utterback (24.43) placed eighth in the 200 meters. Hammargren (12.15), Utterback (12.37) and Troy Naron (12.48) were seventh, eighth and ninth in the 100 meters.
At the Reed Invitational on Saturday, Aguirre won the discus with a personal best throw of 157-6 and he was second in the shot with another personal best of 47-2.75.
Jeronimo placed third in the discus (133-1) and sixth in the shot put.
Shaun Gilliland placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 11-3 and Kaid Sanchez and Shane Gilliland were fifth and seventh.
Mia Hernandez placed ninth the pole vault at 8-0 and Bottoms was 15th.
Lowry travels to Reno on Saturday for the Galena Invitational.
