The Lowry High School baseball team was set to host Elko last week for three games but Mother Nature said no to that.
Instead, the Buckaroos traveled to Elko for the three-game series.
Lowry dropped all three contests, losing 13-2 on Thursday and 12-1 and 17-2 on Friday to drop to 3-9-1 overall and 0-3 in the Northern 3A.
In Thursday’s opener, the Indians plated six runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed.
The Buckaroos got back two of the runs in the bottom of the first for their only scoring of the day.
Txema Bengochea led off the inning with a walk and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Kasyn Garner doubled home Adam Brooks for the other run. Garner led the team with a pair of hits.
Omar Gomez, Brandon Cardenas, Zaq Growcock, Jordan Bills and Brayden Dennis each had one hit.
After scoring a single run in the second, Elko scored six more times in the third inning.
In Friday’s first contest, Elko plated five runs in the first inning and added five more runs in the fourth to win on the run rule.
Lowry grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second inning of the series finale, but Elko scored 11 times in the third inning to break open the game.
The Buckaroos are off this week and return to the field on Friday, April 14, in Fernley at 3 p.m. The two squads play a doubleheader on April 15, at 11 a.m.
