A letter from the Beehive

March 28, 2023

It is with gratitude that we thank the many people and resources that made BeeHive Homes a success these past 25 years. What began as care for our elderly mothers, developed into a life changing experience. We thank BeeHive Corporation for including us in their fold and for initially teaching us all that we had to know in building this business from the ground up. It is over-whelming to realize how much more there would be to learn about this ever-growing industry.

The People of Winnemucca can feel pride in the care the elderly received in our assisted/group home. However, there were many entities that supported us and were readily available at our call. Thank you to maintenance people who answered our cry for plumbing, air-conditioning, heating, and yard emergencies—even on a weekend! Thank you to the lawn care people. Thank you to all of the service groups, church groups, merchants, restaurants, schools, florists, individuals who offered their time and talents in providing interesting activities and music. Thank you to Humboldt General Hospital, city and county agencies, doctors, paramedics, law enforcement, and pharmacists, who assisted in the well-being of our residents.

We especially thank all the caregivers and managers who have been a part of our Beehive family these many years. They were amazing people who single-handedly cooked and cared for the people they served. They learned to be trouble-shooters, calm in the wake of disaster. And they put in many extra hours away from their families. Thanks to them, our skirmish with COVID was met head-on and we thank them for learning, along with us, what needed to be done to further protect our population. Quarantine was not an easy experience for anyone.

We salute the families who took an active role in the love and care for their family member. It was not always an easy transition. We thank them for their support, not to mention all the potluck dinners and holiday events.

Most of all, we want to thank our residents, all 155 of them who came from every walk of life. We thank them monetarily and emotionally, for accepting this change in their lives. They were partners in helping us establish BeeHive Homes of Winnemucca as “the next best thing to home.”

Last of all, we want to thank our family for their support through out these years. We were not youngsters when we took on this venture, so their help has been immeasurably welcome from beginning to end. Thank you loved ones. And thank you to that silent partner who encouraged us with faith and financial backing to invest in Winnemucca. Finally, we wish the new property owners success in their upcoming venture.

Sincerely,

Kit and Beverly Hobson
