Obituary: Lynda Walton

Lynda Walton, 71, of Winnemucca, NV, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 21st in her home due to natural causes. 

Lynda was born on March 22, 1951 in Winnemucca, NV to Louie and Mari Bidart. She had three brothers: David, Bruce, and Casey. 

Lynda graduated from Reno High School in 1969. She continued her education at UNR earning an undergraduate degree in elementary education and a graduate degree in special education. 

She started her teaching career in Ely, NV working 12 years for the White Pine School District. 

In 1987, she moved to Winnemucca, her home town, and taught an additional 21 years for the Humboldt County School District retiring in 2008. Lynda was married to Don Walton in 1986. 

They raised three children together: Jessica, Davey, and Jamie. After retirement, Lynda made numerous fishing trips with friends and family, most of them with her dad. 

She loved to watch college sports, especially at UNR, University of Oregon, Fresno State, and UCLA, as her children attended or worked at those universities. 

She enjoyed traveling around the United States and Canada to different MLB baseball parks and especially enjoyed seeing her favorite team, the Yankees, play. 

She visited 23 ballparks along with numerous historic, educational, and scenic sites in, or near, those cities. 

She was a fixture at Lowry High School athletic events where she spotted for the football announcer, called lines for volleyball, kept the scorebook for basketball and baseball games, or simply watched the games. 

Lynda is survived by her husband Don, her daughter Jessica (Jared) Nott, her son Davey, her son Jamie, her brother Bruce (Margaret) Bidart, and her brother Casey Bitz. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Louie and Mari Bidart, and her brother David Bidart. 

A Celebration of Life for Lynda will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 3:00 pm at the Boys & Girls Club of Winnemucca. 

A private burial will be held at a later date. Lynda loved the color blue. 

The family would be honored to have you wear that color to her celebration rather than black.

Lynda you were our rock and will be missed, but not forgotten.
