Mustang parents, football and soccer players packed the bleachers and made their voices heard.

Some waved homemade signs with the name of their favorite player. Lovelock's 12-girl team responded by playing at the top of their game.

"Communication was key in this game, which slumped during the second set. I hate losing the second set because then we have to win two more to take the win. However, each girl did their part and we got that win," Monica Halverson said.

Raegan Burrows led the attack with 15 kills, two aces and five digs. Taylor Garland continues to shine in the libero spot, racking up four kills, one assist and 20 digs.

Homecoming Queen Kaydance Happy contributed four ace serves, one kill, 15 assists and nine digs.

Pershing County dominated the first two sets with their serves, hitting and defense. Coach Halverson noted the setters had a tough time pulling the sets off the net but they corrected their mistakes.

Garland and Kaydance Happy offered some impressive back row attacks. Aaliyah Allen and Yasmine McKinney worked the middle of the net with aggression. Raegan Burrows made the game-winning kill between two blockers to their crosscourt.

In the third set Wendover's hitters started putting power behind the ball and gave Lovelock a workout.

"West Wendover played solid and gave us a run for our money in that third set," said Halverson.

Andrea Canchola had eight digs. Yasmine McKinney added one ace, one kill and two solo blocks.

Anna Happy had two aces and four kills, Aaliyah Allen contributed one ace, one block and five digs. Kaylen Halverson had 15 assists and 13 digs.

On Friday, Pershing County travels to Incline Village to play the Highlanders. Mark your calendars for the Dig Pink fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 21, at 5 p.m. Lovelock will host Incline for the annual eve
