Mother Nature provided an excellent day for the Battle Mountain High School girls golf team to host its tournament this past Thursday at Mountain View Golf Course.

Six other teams made the trip, including Northern 3A members Spring Creek and Elko with JV teams.

White Pine claimed the tournament title with a team score of 477, followed by West Wendover (491) in second.

Elko was third at 495 and Battle Mountain (504) and Wells (507) rounded out the top five.

Spring Creek was sixth at 571 and Round Mountain did not have enough players for a team total.

Lisette Haney led the way for Battle Mountain with a round of 123, while teammate Jenna Chopp was one stroke behind at 124.

Hadley Bauer carded a 128 and Alyssa Laughon had the final kept score with a 129.

Hannah Johnson (133), Kiana Gonzalez (137) and Aubrey LeVine (159) rounded out the scores or the Lady Longhorns.

Battle Mountain travels to West Wendover on Wednesday and closes out the regular season on Oct. 6, in Round Mountain.

The Northern 2A East Regional Championship will be held Thursday, Oct. 13, at Toana Vista Golf Course in West Wendover.

The top three teams and the top six individuals from non-qualifying teams in the league championship advance to the NIAA Class Nevada 2A State High School Girls Golf Championship.

The NIAA 2A State Championships take place Oct. 18-19 at Ruby View Golf Course in Elko.
