It might have been than three weeks but the layoff for the Lowry High School girls soccer team seemed like years.
Before last week, the last time the Lady Bucks were on the field for match was Aug. 30, in South Tahoe.
Since that time, Lowry saw five matches postponed due to transportation issues or smoke issues in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area.
Lowry returned to the field on Monday, Sept. 19, at Wooster to make up a postponed match and the Colts used two second-half goals to beat the Lady Bucks 3-0 in a crossover match.
Sophomore Cleo Fowler had four saves for the Lady Bucks.
Lowry races past Churchill County
Lowry made its home debut this past Thursday and gave the crowd something to cheer about with a 6-2 victory over Churchill County to begin play in the Northern 3A East Division.
The Lady Bucks led 3-1 at halftime and scored the final goal of the night to close out the Greenwave.
Freshman Maite Avalos had a pair of goals for Lowry and Alia Novi, Katlyn Esquibel. Britain Backus and Viviana Avalos each had a goal in the victory. Fowler had 10 saves on the day. Lowry is 1-0 in Northern 3A East play, 0-2 in crossover matches and 3-4 overall.
Lowry was back in Reno on Monday to make up a match with North Valleys and results were not available at press time.
The Lady Bucks travel to Dayton on Friday for a 4:45 p.m. start and Fernley on Saturday at 11:45 a.m.
Lowry hosts Spring Creek on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 3:45 p.m.
