Lowry boys soccer team drop two Northern 3A West crossover matches

The Lowry High School boys soccer team lost a pair of Northern 3A West crossover matches this past weekend in Winnemucca.

The two defeats dropped the Buckaroos to 0-9 on the season and 0-5 in crossover play.

Lowry took on Bishop Manogue on Friday and lost 5-0 to the Reno school that plays all its other sports in the Northern 5A.

The Miners scored in the 15th minute, putting back a shot that was previously saved by Marcos Ruiz.

Bishop Manogue added to the advantage and led 3-0 at the break, with goals in the 25th and 40th minute, right before the halftime whistle.

Bishop Manogue took a 4-0 lead, five minutes into the se3cond half and closed out the scoring in the 50th minute off a corner kick.

Ruiz made a save on a penalty kick in the second half and Jose Avila saw a free kick go over the bar in the second half for one of the Buckaroos’ scoring chances.



McQueen beats Lowry 2-0

McQueen made its way from Reno on Saturday afternoon, another school that plays all its other sports in the Northern 5A.

The Lancers scored one goal in each half to earn the 2-0 victory. The Buckaroos played down a man for a majority of the second half.

Lowry traveled to Fallon on Tuesday to open Northern 3A East play against Churchill County and results were not available at press time.

The Buckaroos host Dayton on Sept. 30, at 4:45 p.m. and Fernley on Oct. 1, at 11:45 a.m.
