This past Friday, the Pershing County High School football team hosted the Silver Stage Nighthawks.
It was Silver Stage’s first game of the year. Pershing County packed the stands and a sizable crowd made the trip from Silver Springs.
The Mustangs continued their winning streak, blanking the Nighthawks 42-0.
Pershing County played at their level, never giving an inch. Senior running back Noel Zaldivar and his brother Denzel both had interceptions. QB Travis Donaldson threw two touchdowns, one to Noel Zaldivar and one to Aaron Kienbaum.
Sophomore fullback Tyrn Sam rushed in two touchdowns. Donaldson and Izayuh McGlothin each had one.
Defensively, opposing teams need to watch out for Luis Sanchez, Kienbaum and Wyatt Diaz. The Mustangs have given up only six points in the last three games.
“Hopefully, we can continue that streak this week. We have some players that have really improved in the last three weeks. We loved hosting the Future Mustangs to run on the field with us and are thankful for the crowd attendance,” Mike Brooks said.
At this Friday’s Homecoming Game, Pershing hosts the Yerington Lions, the defending state champs. It will be Yerington’s first league game of the year.
They blanked Dayton 44-0 last month at YHS. JV plays at 4:30 and the varsity kicks off at 7 p.m.
