Obituary: Ronald David Halper

Ronald David Halper, 87, passed away on September 13,2022 at his home in Imlay, Nevada.

He was born on February 24, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio to Abraham and Anna Halper.

Ron grew up in Cleveland, OH with his siblings until he was 7 years old.

At age 7, he moved to Long Beach, California with his parents and siblings.

This is where he attended schools, started a career and lived until his mid-20s. Ron was a salesman, he sold family photograph programs.

He started with door to door selling and cold calls, he did this for many years before being promoted to a manager position and doing more of the office work that family photograph programs entailed.

He met the love of his life, Jean Marie Corder in Pomona, California. The two were married on July 28, 1961, they happily shared 51 years and 3 weeks together until Jean’s passing in 2012.

The two had 3 children; Debra, Dawn and David.

Ron’s wife, Jean, had a travel bug, she couldn’t stay in just one place for long, so Ron and Jean moved around often.

It gave them the opportunity to see many communities throughout California, Washington and Oregon.

The two finally settled and lived in Las Vegas for the longest amount of time in their lives from 1999 to 2010.

In 2010, when Jean’s Alzheimer’s started to take a toll, the two followed their daughter, Dawn to Imlay, Nevada, where both lived until their passing.

He enjoyed reading, he mainly enjoyed science fiction and authors; Clyde Cussler, JD Robb, James Patterson and Iris Johansen.

He also enjoyed listening to music. He loved so many artists from Alicia Keys to Ozzy Osbourne to Moody Blues to Blake Shelton and everything in between.

He enjoyed happy music, songs that made him want to bop in his chair along with it.

Ron is survived by his children, Debra Jean Vetter, Dawn Marie Hart and David Terrance Halper. His grandchildren, Dustin Drew Halper, Taylor Anne Vetter, Austin Samuel Vetter, Ashlyn Kay Halper, Samantha Jean Halper, Britney Marie Thacker and Branden Matthew Hart.
