Things are looking pretty good for the Lowry High School volleyball team this fall. The Lady Bucks were back on their home floor this past weekend to finish out crossover play against the Northern 3A West.
Like the previous four matches against the West, Lowry ran its winning streak to seven with a 25-18, 25-15 and 25-15 win over South Tahoe on Friday night and a 25-21, 25-15 and 25-18 victory against North Valleys on Saturday. The Lady Bucks are 13-4 overall and 6-0 against the Northern 3A West.
On Friday night, South Tahoe scored the first four points of the first set, as Lowry got off to a slow start, but the Lady Bucks quickly turned it around. Lowry took a 6-5 lead off a kill by Kailey Franklin.
The Lady Bucks maintained the lead at 17-10 after a kill by Emma Gray and two aces by Gray and a kill by Savannah Stoker. The first set advantage was at 20-12 at one time, when South Tahoe made a run to trim the lead to 20-15, before the Lady Bucks held on for the victory.
The second set was back-and-forth with South Tahoe taking a 4-3 lead. After the set was tied at 5-5, Lowry grabbed an 9-6 advantage after a block and kill by Gray. The Lady Bucks reeled off four more points to go up 13-6 after hitting errors by South Tahoe, as the Vikings took a time out.
The stop in action didn’t work for South Tahoe, as the lead grew to 17-8. A pair of Viking hitting errors put the Lady Bucks lead to 21-11 and Lowry didn’t look back.
South Tahoe came out in the third set with three straight points but saw that run end with a service error. The Vikings saw their lead grow to 6-2 off a kill and Lowry hitting error but the momentum stopped again with a service error.
The Lady Bucks battled back to tie the set at 7-7 and took a 12-8 lead after a South Tahoe hitting error and a kill by Franklin.
Lowry increased the lead 18-11 off of consecutive blocks by Stoker and Lowry never looked back for the match win.
After knocking off South Tahoe in straight sets, Lowry did the same to North Valleys on Saturday afternoon to complete the perfect weekend.
Lowry is back on its home floor on Wednesday to play Churchill County at 6 p.m.
