A trio of Sage Ridge sophomores scored seven goals against the Pershing High School girls soccer team on Saturday.
Unfortunately, Pershing County joins the list of girls’ soccer teams bitten by the Scorpions so far this season.
The final score was 7-0, with Sage Ridge scoring two goals in the first half and five in the second.
To date, Sage Ridge has blanked Battle Mountain 10-0 and West Wendover 16-0. Incline got a couple of goals past them but still lost 10-2 earlier this month.
On the positive side, Pershing kept up their intensity throughout the 80-minute home conference game.
There were some close calls and incredible saves. Sophomore Lily Burt continues to shine in her challenging position.
Pershing County hosted Incline for a league match on Wednesday, Sept. 14. Results were not available at press time.
Pershing County plays Sage Ridge again in Reno on Friday, Oct. 7.
First, this Friday, the Mustangs travel to Tahoe City to play North Tahoe (3-2, overall, 1-0 in the 2A).
The Mustangs’ next home game is Wednesday, Sept. 21, against rival Battle Mountain (1-3, overall, 0-2 in the 2A).
