Gonzalez, Chopp lead Lady Longhorn golfers at Wells

The Battle Mountain High School girls golf team headed east on Interstate 80 on Thursday, Sept. 8, for a Northern 2A tournament at Chimney Creek Golf Course in Wells.

The Lady Longhorns took a full group of six golfers, even though one did not finish due to an injury. 

Battle Mountain shot 574 as a team. 

Kiana Gonzales and Jenna Chop led Battle Mountain with rounds of 139. 

Alyssa Laughon carded a 147 and Vanessa Gillogley (149) and Lisette Haney (152) rounded out the scores for the Lady Longhorns. 

Hannah Johnson who did not finish due to an injury. 

“We have a lot to work on as each girl told me what they need help with,” said BMHS coach Alley Leyva. “It was windy off and on for most of the day but other than that they did really well.”

Battle Mountain travels to Elko on Wednesday and will be on its home course on Thursday, Sept. 22.
