Loving husband, father,
grandfather and
great-grandfather
Robert “Bob” Smith passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 24, 2022 at the age of 81.
Our dad, Bob was born on August 17, 1941 in Rawlins, Wyoming to Henry and Catherine Smith.
He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Sidney, Nebraska, where he met and married the love of his life, Mary Theresa Schiltz in March of 1962.
The two later moved to Wyoming where Bob was a volunteer fireman and started his career in mining.
Together they raised 4 children; Steven, William “Bill”, Geralyn “Geri”, and Christy.
The love of the outdoors with hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends became his way of life.
After leaving Wyoming, Bob and Mary lived in Challis, Idaho until finding their home in Winnemucca, Nevada in 1992. In Winnemucca, he continued his mining career.
He worked at Santa Fe for Newmont Gold until his retirement. He often spoke of his A&D crew at Newmont Twin Creeks and always wished them well.
Bob was known by several nicknames; Smitty, and Biscuit, but the nicknames he cherished most were husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa.
The love of family was very important and he enjoyed being surrounded by them all.
Bob is survived by his children; William (Sharon) Smith of Houston, TX, Steve (Ester) Smith, Geralyn (Paul) Pinkston, and Christy Smith all of Winnemucca, NV.
10 grandchildren; Ashton (Josh) Thomas, Nate Shearer, Tanner Shearer (Maisie Paquette) Braden Shearer, Auston Trujillo (Julia Brady), Bethany (Cody) Hollon, Kelsey (Raul) Trujillo, Erica (Matt) Smith, Garick and Layton Smith.
17 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and sister.
As well as his beloved wife and soulmate, Mary Theresa Smith, who left his side in May of 2017.
Our family would like to express our sincerest appreciation for family and friends showing great support during this very difficult time.
Rest in Peace Mom and Dad, we love you and miss you greatly!
Together again, spread your wings and fly.
