Lowry cross country runs at Nevada Twilight Classic

After having the 2021 Nevada Twilight Classic due to heavy smoke in the Reno area, high schools and college’s from around Nevada and California were in Reno for the 2022 version of the event.

The high school runners ran 4,100 meters and Lowry High School senior Ivan Lara placed 30th in the boys varsity race with a time of 15 minutes, 30 seconds. 

There were 82 runners in the race.

Reno’s Cael Mattioli won the race at 14:02, followed by Douglas’ Jackson Davis (14:13) and Damonte Ranch’s Jackson Elliott (14:52). Reed’s Lucas Godard (14:27) and Spanish Springs’ Cade Beadwell (14:32) rounded out the top five.

Galena won the team title with 74 points and Spanish Springs (85) and Spring Creek (118) were second and third, respectively.

In the JV boys race, Lowry’s Lennox Zebroski finished with a time of 23:03 and teammate Keaton Kenison was right behind him at 23:11. They also ran 4,100 meters.

Galena’s Cole Dempsey crossed the line first in a time of 16:11 and Wooster’s Atticus Ryeher was second at 16:31. 

Galena claimed the team title with 42 points and Spring Creek (58) placed second.

Lowry travels to Tahoe City, Calif. on Friday for the North Tahoe Invitational.
