Battle Mountain cross country runners make its way to Reno

The Battle Mountain High School cross country team made its way to western Nevada and the Nevada Twilight Classic this past Thursday which was hosted by the University of Nevada at Rancho San Rafael Park.

The Longhorns’ Eli Colver and Sean Doney competed in the JV boys race, which was 4,100 meters. Colver finished 37th in a time of 18 minutes, 27 seconds and Doney was 74th at 19:57.

Galena’s Cole Dempsey crossed the line first in a time of 16:11 and Wooster’s Atticus Ryeher was second at 16:31. 

Galena claimed the team title with 42 points and Spring Creek (58) placed second.

Lilly Peterson ran in the girls 4,100 meter varsity race and the senior stopped the clock at 30:23.

Bishop Manogue’s Amaya Aramini won the race at 16:23, followed by Galena’s Eleanor Raker (16:49). Galena claimed the team championship with 63 points and Carson 974) and Bishop Manogue (75) were second and third, respectively. 

Freshman Ivy Peterson ran in the JV girls race and finished 39th in a time of 24:21. There were 78 runners in the JV race.

Galena’s Mariah Davis (19:48) and Courtney Wigmore (20:24) were first and second, respectively. Galena won the team title with 24 points.

Battle Mountain competes in the North Tahoe Invitational on Friday.
