The Lowry High School cross country team ended the regular season on a high note this past Friday at the Dave Marson Trail Run at Sierra Lutheran High School.
The Buckaroos’ Ivan Lara won the boys varsity race in a time of 18 minutes, 55.60 seconds.
Wooster sophomore Atticus Reyher was not far behind, finishing at 18:56.01, in a photo finish at the end.
Coral Academy’s Liam Powell was third at 20:51.94 and Oasis Academy’s Matthew Bird (20:53.73) and Sierra Lutheran’s Joshua Fox (21:03.31), were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Lowry junior Keaton Kenison was 19th with a time of 24:52.33 and freshman Jace Frydendall was 27th, stopping the clock at 26:56.35.
Sierra Lutheran won the team title with 32 points, followed by Coral Academy (32), Wooster (38) and Churchill County (42).
In the girls race, Saige Gregory won the 5,000-meter race at 23:40.47 and Virginia City’s Kalia Anchors was second at 25:45.22.
The Northern 3A Regional Championships take place Friday at in Sparks at Shadow Mountain Park at Reed High School. The 3A boys run at 11:10 a.m.
The top four teams from the Northern League championship and the top four teams from the Southern League championship meet advance to the eight-team Class 3A state championship.
The top seven individuals from non-qualifying state meet teams out of the Northern League championship and the top seven individuals from non-qualifying state meet teams out of the Southern League championship also advance to the Class 3A state championship.
The NIAA State Championships will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, at Veterans Park in Boulder City.
