BMHS cross country team runs at Northeastern Nevada JV championships

Members of the Battle Mountain High School were in Spring Creek this past Thursday for the Northeastern Nevada JV Championships at Spring Creek Golf Course.

Freshman Eli Colver finished 11th with a time of 20 minutes, 39.03 seconds, with teammate and fellow freshman Sean Doney stopping the clock at 22:15.39 to place 18th.

Spring Creek had the top five finishers, including race winner Scottie Adams at 18:32.46. Joseph Terras (18:56.10) was second and Brennan Dastrup (19:07.68) was third.

Spring Creek won the team title with a perfect score of 15 points, followed by Elko (58) and West Wendover (67).

Spring Creek had the top eight runners in the girls race, with sophomore Ryan Youngblood winning in a time of 23:08.10.

The Northern 2A Regional Championship is Friday at Shadow Mountain Park in Sparks at Reed High School. 

The Northern 2A boys run at 10:35 a.m. and the girls race at 1 p.m.

The top three teams from the Northern Region Championship and the top three teams from the Southern Region Championship meet advance to the six-team Class 2A state championship meet.

The top seven individuals from non-qualifying state meet teams out of the Northern Region Championship meet and the top seven individuals from non-qualifying state meet teams out of the Southern Region Championship meet also advance to the Class 2A state championship.
