Lowry High School senior Ivan Lara finished seventh this past Friday afternoon at the Wells Invitational on the 3.1-mile Chimney Creek Golf Course.
Lara stopped the clock at 18 minutes, 58 seconds.
Spring Creek had five of the top six finishers, including race winner Joel Herman at 16:15.
Teammate Nathan Thomas was second at 16:33. Elko’s Braylon Baggett (16:47) finished third and Spring Creek’s Benjamin Claridge (18:14) and Ian Mitchell (18:15) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Spring Creek won the team title with 18 points, followed by Elko (40), Wells (68) and White Pine (102).
Lowry’s Jace Frydendall had a time of 23:27 in the JV boys race and Keaton Kenison finished at 23:47.
In the varsity girls race, Spring Creek’s Kiley Munson won with a time of 20:32 and Elko’s Carly Nelson was second at 20:54. Elko won the team title with 25 points and Spring Creek was second with 31 points.
Lowry travels to Sierra Lutheran High School on Friday for the Dave Marson Trail Run.
The Northern 3A Regional Championships take place at Shadow Mountain Park at Reed High School in Sparks on Friday, Oct. 28. The 3A boys race at 11:10 a.m.
The top four teams from the Northern championship and the top four teams from the Southern championship meet advance to the eight-team 3A state championship.
The top seven individuals from non-qualifying state meet teams out of the Northern championship meet and the top seven individuals from non-qualifying state meet teams out of the Southern championship meet advance to the 3A state championship.
