The Pershing County High School football team capped their senior night with a 56-0 win over visiting West Wendover.
The Lovelock crowd honored five graduating seniors - Nikolas Jimenez, Blake Burrows, Noel Zaldivar, Wyatt Diaz and Seth Provstgaard.
The spirit squad celebrated Brooklyn Mitchell, Lupita Lopez, Autumn Holtsclaw, Kyria Angel, Marya Burke, Nova Karlsson and Benedetta Pompignoli.
The players and cheerleaders each stepped onto the field surrounded by their parents, grandparents and friends as Steve Evenson announced their accomplishments.
The festive mood spilled onto the field and continued throughout the game. Izayuh McGlothin rushed in the first touchdown of the night, followed by a good kick from Wyatt Diaz for the extra point.
Next, Luis Sanchez scored off a fumble recovery. The sophomore running back had multiple interceptions on top of the defensive touchdown.
In the second quarter, sophomore Travis Donaldson threw touchdown receptions to Aaron Kienbaum and Tyrn Sam. McGlothin rushed to the end zone again, bringing the halftime score to 41-0.
The score stayed put until the fourth quarter. That's when Blake Burrows threw a touchdown reception to Kaden Chambers. Sophomore running back Denzel Zaldivar rushed in the final touchdown of the night.
"The defense came out and played more confidently than the last few games which is what we were hoping for," said coach Mike Brooks.
With the win, Pershing County improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the Northern 2A.
Their only league loss has been to the defending 2A state champion Yerington Lions.
On Thursday, Pershing County takes to the road to play rival Battle Mountain (4-1) at 7 p.m.
The Mustangs host Coral Academy of Science on Thursday, Oct. 27, for the last game of the regular season.
