Obituary: R. Henry “Hank” McNinch

R. Henry “Hank” McNinch was born June 28, 1934 in Winnemucca , Nevada as the 10th child of Doss McNinch and Mabel McNinch (Gebhart).  

Hank had a passion for working with horses and broke his first horse at the age of ten.  

Hank was drafted into the army in July 1956 where he was stationed in Bamberg, Germany as a tank driver and welder.  

Hank raised and showed horses competed in calf penning and team roping events, raised cattle and shod horses.   

Hank married Patricia Nelson on November 12,1958 in Reno, Nevada. 

Hank started working for the Western Pacific Railroad after the birth of their two children Donna and Hank.  

They moved to Stockton California in 1968 where he lived the remainder of his life. 

Hank shared his passion for horses and cattle with his children and grandchildren.  

Hank was inducted into the Winnemucca Buckaroo Hall of Fame in 2017.  Hank passed away on October 3, 2022 at his home in Stockton California.  

Hank is survived by his two children : Donna Freeman and Hank McNinch, seven grandchildren: Mike (Katy) McNinch, Joseph Freeman, Megan (Jose) McNinch, Daniel (April) Freeman, Ashlee (Wayne} Frades. Donna (Jerry) Blanton, Rhonda (Johnny) Brooks 15 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren. 

The viewing will be on Thursday October 20th 2022 from 2-6pm at Zapata Funeral Home in Stockton California.  Graveside service Friday October 21, at 10 am at the Winnemucca cemetery.
