Obituary: Frances Salaz Reynolds

Frances Ellen Salaz Reynolds was born on June 21, 1944 in Elko, NV and passed away on October 8, 2022 at Quail Corner Care Facility in Winnemucca NV. 

Frances has been a long-time resident of Winnemucca where she gained regional popularity as one of Nevada’s top blackjack dealers during the 1960s, 70s and 80s. 

During the heyday of Joe Mackay’s Star Broiler Casino, Red Bull Casino and of course Winner’s Inn, Fran was known to be the consummate professional. 

Players were known to have traveled to Winnemucca from many states away, just to play at her table.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband Richard Reynolds, her Mother Clara Blossom Woodson, her Father Chris Salaz, her brother Bernardo Woodson, her sister Peggy Booth, her brother David Woodson, her brother-in-law Kevin Dressi, her daughter Karen Love and her son John Love. 

She leaves behind her daughter Crystal Paredes and her husband Jose Paredes of Elko, her son Bill MacMillan and husband John Conley of Palm Desert, CA, her son Craig Reynolds of Winnemucca, and her daughter Renee Fregosa and wife Angie Fregosa of Sacramento, CA.

Frances is also survived by three wonderful granddaughters and two great granddaughters, Jennifer Love of Spokane WA and her daughters Alicia and Erica McGee, Amanda Love of Oakland Ca and Trista Curry of Elko NV, along with her stepdaughter Shelly Cooney and her children Wil Cooney and Katie Garner all of Winnemucca.

She is also survived by a large family including her brother Richard Salaz and his wife Pat of Washington, her brother Ernest Woodson and his wife Lois of California, her sister Claire Woodson McDowell of Texas and sister, Sherri Schofield of Nevada, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be forever grateful for the incredible care Frances received by all the staff at both Harmony Manor and Quail Corner in Winnemucca. 

She is at peace. May she be walking with her family and the ancestors.
