The Battle Mountain High School volleyball team was busy last week with three Northern 3A matches, all in Battle Mountain.
The Lady Longhorns took on North Tahoe on Tuesday, Oct. 11, and lost 25-12, 25-13 and 25-9 to the Lakers.
Christina Holley, Emely Farias and Olivia Lemaire each had a kill in the match.
Shea Jones picked four of Battle Mountain’s seven aces, with Lilliana Haney, Bailey Elderkin and Heidy Amezcua each having one ace. Amezcua added two assists.
PCHS beats Battle Mountain in five sets
Theis past Friday, Pershing County visited Battle Mountain and came away with a thrilling five-set win 25-27, 25-15, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-13.
Holley and Jones finished with six and five kills, respectively, with Elderkin, Amezcua and Lemaire each adding one.
Haney contributed three aces and Galileah Benavidez, Elderkin, Holly and Amezcua each had two aces. Jones finished with one ace.
Holley had seven blocks on the night, with Elderkin adding two and Kyandra Perez and Jones each had five digs. Amezcua had 11 assists.
Lady Longhorns sweep Falcons
Battle Mountain closed out the weekend with a 27-25, 25-7 and 25-19 win over Coral Academy. Holley had a team-high eight kills.
Elderkin added four aces and Amezcua and Jones each had three aces. Holley added six blocks, Perez and Jones had seven and four digs, respectively and Amezcua had eight assists.
Battle Mountain travels to Yerington on Friday and Silver Stage on Saturday. The Lady Longhorns host West Wendover on Oct. 25 and Incline on Oct. 28.
North Tahoe leads the league at 10-1, with Yerington and Pershing County tied for second at 9-2.
Incline is fourth at 5-4, followed by Battle Mountain (4-6) and West Wendover (2-7).
The top six teams advance to the playoffs.
