Winnemucca native makes MusicRow Top 100 chart, returns to Nevada to perform homecoming concert

From the stage of a small church in rural Nevada to the big stages in Nashville, Winnemucca native Lauren Reno, (previously Lauren Dimock), has garnered major success with her music career and is traveling from her current home in Nashville, Tenn., to perform a homecoming show at the Eldorado in Reno on Oct. 15.

She will be performing songs from her debut album—Gold Rush—which was released on Sept. 23 and was inspired by her father’s life working as an underground miner.

Another one of Reno’s latest releases, Bottle’s Worth a Dime, was also featured on the MusicRow’s Top 100 chart this year.

In an interview with Ming S. Zhao in an article published by Authority Magazine, Reno describes her life in Winnemucca:

“I grew up in a Christian home in rural Nevada. My dad was a gold miner in the small town of Winnemucca, NV. We moved a lot when I was a child. I spent my childhood and teens in California, Tennessee, Oregon, Nevada and Washington. My parents kept returning to work in the gold mines because it made for a good living. Their work ethic and the gold mining culture shaped me in many ways; it made me realize the value of hard work.”

Reno cites her father, Eddie Dimock, as a major influence in her aspirations to become a singer in her interview for Authority Magazine.

She said “I grew up surrounded by music entertainment. In addition to working in the mines, my dad was a musician/entertainer. I spent many nights watching him at shows; playing with different bands. I knew from a young age that I wanted to do the same thing. When I was 16, my dad released a gospel album. I had just begun to write my own worship music, so he took me on tour with him. Through him and because of him, I learned how to perform.”

Reno will also be performing at the Lamoille Hotel in Elko County on Oct. 16 with proceeds benefiting the charity Vets for Kids.
