The Battle Mountain High School cross country team made the short trip to Winnemucca on Friday afternoon for the Lowry Invitational at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course.
Battle Mountain freshmen Ivy Petersen was 16th in the girls varsity race with a time of 28 minutes, 2 seconds and senior Lilly Peterson placed 18th at 36:30.
Spring Creek senior Kiley Munson won with a time of 20:20 and Elko’s Carly Nielsen (20:34) and Reese Hatch (21:09) were second and third, respectively.
Elko beat Spring Creek 26-29 for the team title.
On the boys side, Eli Colver finished 21st in a time of 20:37 and teammate and fellow freshman Sean Doney was 22nd at 21:31.
Spring Creek’s Joel Herman won the race with a time of 16:15 and teammate Nathan Thomas was second at 16:37. Spring Creek had seven of the top-10 finishers and won the team championship.
Battle Mountain travels to Wells Friday to run on the Chimney Creek course.
