Lowry High School senior Ivan Lara turned in a sixth-place finish this past Friday on the 3.1-mile trek at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course, as the Buckaroos held their annual invitational.
Lara stopped the clock at 17 minutes, 41 seconds, a personal best for him.
Spring Creek had seven of the top-10 finishers including the top two spots with Joel Herman winning at 16:15 and Nathan Thomas (16:37) placing second.
Elko’s Braylon Baggett was third with a time of 16:45 and Spring Creek’s Jake Bradford (16:47) and Liam Hamilton (16:56) rounded out the top five.
Spring Creek won the team title with 18 points, followed by Elko (47) and Damonte Ranch (75).
Lowry had a pair of runners in the JV race, with junior Keaton Kenison placing 25th in a time of 23:51 and freshman teammate Jace Frydendall was one spot back in 26th at 24:09.
Spring Creek’s Joseph Terras won with a time of 18:26 and Wells’ Gonzalo Roque (18:55) placed second. Spring Creek had the next four finishers and beat Wells 19-44 for the team title.
Lowry did not have runner in the varsity girls race, which was won by Spring Creek’s Kiley Munson in a time of 20:20.
Elko’s Carly Nielsen was second at 20:34 and Elko’s Reese Hatch (21L09), Damonte Ranch’s Vanessa Lopez and Spring Creek’s Brianna Perchetti (21:37) rounded out the top five.
Dayton’s Allison Hoffman won the JV girls race with a time of 23:55.
Lowry travels to Wells on Friday for the Wells Invitational.
