The future holds many new promises for Humboldt and Pershing County, and with the Nevada 95-80 Regional Development Authority holding forums for important discussions about these expanding opportunities, key stakeholders should be present in order to be a part of the impending growth.
The Nevada 95-80 Futures Forum on Oct. 26 will create an opportunity to gather and discuss significant developments in Humboldt and Pershing County, like West Coast Salmon Nevada, Lithium Nevada, and Winnemucca Farms.
The event, which will be held at the Winnemucca Boys & Girls Club from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., gives a platform to anyone who is a part of the workforce, owns a business, or is interested in seeing their community grow.
Representatives from West Coast Salmon Nevada, Lithium Nevada, and Winnemucca Farms will all be present to give updates and answer questions.
Michelle Hammond Allen, Economic Development Officer, Humboldt Development Authority/ Nevada 95-80 Regional Development Authority Director said “Overall, this is a place for people to gather and talk about the future of our region, economically speaking.”
The Nevada 95-80 Regional Development Authority brings attention to some of the most important concerns for Humboldt and Pershing County.
Housing, large industrial developments, agriculture, and mining have all been identified as prominent matters that must be considered by Pershing and Humboldt County residents and business owners.
Through discussions about the many different large-scale developments going on outside of city limits that Pershing and Humboldt County have, and coordinating an environment where people from the community can ask questions, the Futures Forum has something for everyone.
Connecting those that need what local businesses can provide stimulates the local economy, according to Hammond Allen, because Humboldt or Pershing can benefit from the sales tax imposed, rather than losing the revenue to other counties. Stimulating the local economies and helping businesses to find and maintain employees is crucial to relationship development in the community.
“The purpose [of the Futures Forum] is really focusing in on how to strengthen the connections between businesses and really strengthen those networks,” said Hammond Allen.
