A storm blew into Lovelock from Ely on Saturday morning.
The Pershing County High School girls soccer hosted White Pine and lost 7-0.
The Ladycats scored three goals in the first half and four in the second.
Junior co-captain Miya Gallagher remains proud of the Mustangs.
She noted that they were down six girls, leaving 11 to manage White Pine’s attack. They played the whole game without breaks.
“We played a competitive game. Almost every girl was put in a new position but we all played our hardest. Our team has come a long way since the beginning. Playing with 11 girls was hard but showed our individual strengths,” Gallagher said.
Senior goalkeeper Jillian Bridges made over 23 saves. She kept White Pine from scoring for the first 25 minutes of the first half.
Four of White Pine’s goals came from senior Mia Burgett.
The other three came from Madison Sorenson, Haylee Hendrix and Miley Oxborrow.
With the loss Pershing County is 3-6 overall and 3-5 in the Northern 2A.
The Mustangs went 0-2 against White Pine for the season.
The Mustangs travel to Reno to play Sage Ridge on Friday at 2 p.m. and host Whittell on Saturday at 11 a.m.
