The Friends of the Denio Library brought beauty to the high desert with the creation of a garden in the space between the library and the Library Annex this last summer.
The once weedy area was turned into raised beds, pallets of flowers (planted in the slots) also served as a potato bin. Lots of planters filled with garden plants and more flowers bloomed from a variety of locations. Strawberries grew in old washtubs, a blueberry and bright yellow daisies peeked out from a sink basin. An old sink and cabinet, wooden shelves, bricks and even gutters, that were laying around from previous owner’s projects, were used in making the beds and planters.
The community contributed by donating tubs, pots, old water troughs, rocks, rusty pieces, plants, and their time (lots of time).
The Friends of the Denio Library would like to thank the following community members for their donations and/or time:
Pat Johnsrud, Michelle Vest, Gene and Mindy Northrop, Joe and Stacy Moser, Amanda and Wray Harris, John Church, Helen McDonald, Connie Elder, Katie and Garrick Waalkes.
The Denio Library Garden has been put to bed for the winter. However, it will be back next summer for the community to enjoy once again.
