Obituary: John Anthony Gardella

John Anthony Gardella born June 15, 1957 in Boston, MA; passed away October 19, 2022 (65) after several weeks battling CMV.

John was preceded by his father Paul Gardella, mother Mary Armata and his step son Joshua Jones.

He is survived by daughter Megan Thomason (Shelton), two sisters, Diane Popp (Robert) and Jody Gore (Scott), step son Wes Jones (Sara) and step daughter Breanna Jones as well as a granddaughter Grace Thomason and three step grandchildren, Brynlee, Brennan, and Zane.

John was a vivacious, cantankerous, big hearted stubborn man. For those that knew him well he wanted to do it all, and wanted to do so on his own.

He loved to go fishing with just about anyone who was willing; and loved hunting with friends and family and teaching the young ones all that he could impart on them.

John had a huge heart and had an ever growing chosen family, as many know John picked up family members the way moms pick up laundry…EVERYWHERE.

Gardella to some, Gooey to others, John Boy, or Johnny Hot-Nuts, he had a nick name from every mine and one hell of a story usually preceded it.

The family both biologic and chosen would like to thank everyone for your love, generosity, and friendships with John.

He leaves a piece of himself in our hearts forever and many, many memories to share and keep his spirit alive among us.

We would like to invite all who knew John to come celebrate with us in the East Hall of the Convention Center, 50 W Winnemucca Blvd, Winnemucca, NV 89445, on Monday, November 14th from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M.

Please come armed with your stories and laughter as we all know John inspired both and often together.
