The Battle Mountain High School volleyball team prepped for the playoffs with its final two matches of the regular season this past week at home.
Battle Mountain hosted West Wendover on Tuesday, Oct. 25, and beat the Wolverines 25-19, 23-25, 25-19 and 25-18.
The Lady Longhorns celebrated senior night this past Friday in what would be a familiar foe. Battle Mountain took on Incline and lost 25-23, 25-20, 27-25.
The two teams will meet in the first round of the Northern 2A Regional Championships on Friday in Yerington.
Christina Holley collected three of the Lady Longhorns’ six kills and Lilliana Haney, Bailey Elderkin and Olivia Lemaire each had one kill.
Battle Mountain had 16 aces on the night — five each from Shea Jones and Holley. Haney added three aces and Kyndra Perez, Shaylee Kraft and Heidy Amezcua had one ace each.
Holley and Lemaire each had two blocks, Lemaire added two digs and Amezcua added four assists.

Against West Wendover, Battle Mountain scored the first three points of the opening set, capped of by an ace from Jones.
The strong serving game continued, as an ace from Amezcua gave the Lady Longhorns a 6-2 lead and later in the set, a kill by Lemaire and ace from Emely Farias, pushed the advantage to 14-6.
Battle Mountain saw the lead evaporate, as West Wendover closed the gap to 17-16. Following a timeout, the Lady Longhorns responded with seven straight points.
Jones started the spurt with a kill and Amezcua added two aces, including one that hit off the top of the net and fell on the floor to make the score 22-16. Holley closed out the set with a kill.
Battle Mountain used that momentum at the start of the second set, racing out to a 9-2 advantage. Jones and Amezcua had aces during the run and Holley added a tip and kill.
Once again, the big lead went away, as the Lady Longhorns had trouble putting the set to rest. West Wendover came back to go in front at 20-19 after back-to-back aces.
However, the Wolverines missed their next serve and then had a double hit on the next point to give the Lady Longhorns a 21-20 lead.
West Wendover tied the set at 23 and led 24-23, when the ball fell to the floor in between Battle Mountain players. The Wolverines scored the next point to even the match at 1-1.
The two squads traded points in the third set, until Battle Mountain went on a 9-0 run to move a 12-11 lead to 21-12. Holley had three kills during that run and Farias added a block.
The Wolverines did not go away and closed the gap to 22-18, but a serving error and hitting error at he end gave the win to the Lady Longhorns.
Battle Mountain used three straight aces from Jones, as well as kills from Lemaire and Holley to lead 10-1 in the fourth set.
The Lady Longhorns gave much of the advantage back and led 14-10, when Farias served an ace and Battle Mountain held on from there.
The Northern 2A Regional Championships are this weekend in Yerington. Incline and Battle Mountain play 5 p.m., with the winner playing North Tahoe on Saturday at noon.
Pershing County plays Silver Stage on Friday at 7 p.m., with the winner playing Yerington at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
The championship is set for 4 p.m. The two finalists advance to the NIAA 2A State Championships at Hug High School on Nov. 11-12.
