High school track and field teams compete at NIAA State Championships

The high school track and field season came to an end the past weekend at Reed High School in Sparks with the NIAA State Track and Field Championships. Lowry’s Shaun Gilliland (pole vault), Emily Backus (long jump), Jovi Kuskie (1,600 meters, 3,200 meters) and the girls 4x100 relay (Emily Backus, Ellanora Peterson, Sydnee Pettis, Elizabeth Aguilar) won state championships, as did McDermitt’s Cayla Crutcher in the girls 1A shot put. Battle Mountain’s Nolan Chopp won the 2A boys discus state title.
