The high school baseball and softball season came to a close this past weekend with state tournaments throughout the state.
Baseball
In the 5A Division, Basic beat Bishop Gorman 16-7 for the state title, while Virgin Valley knocked off Truckee 12-6 to win the 3A championship.
The Meadows beat Yerington twice 5-2 and 10-0 to win the 2A and Indian Springs knocked off Virginia City 14-4 to win in the 1A.
Softball
Green Valley beat Douglas twice on Saturday 5-0 and 8-2 to win the 5A title and Fernley did the same to Virgin Valley in the 3A (6-2, 7-6).
Needles Calif., beat Pershing County 10-0 in the 2A and Wells beat Pahranagat Valley 15-14 to the 1A championship
