Battle Mountain golfers compete at state tournament in Henderson

Members of the Battle Mountain High School boys golf team closed out its season at the NIAA 2A State Championships at Chimera Golf Club in Henderson on May 16-17.

The Longhorns’ Max Villanueva finished 20th overall with a two-day total of 185. 

He shot 95 on day one and 90 on the final 18 holes. 

Brice Domagala placed 29th with a total of 202. The senior carded a 109 on day one and improved by 16 strokes on day two finish at 93.

Colton Mills had rounds of 107-110-217 to place 37th and Spencer Thompson (124-109-233) was 45th in the field. 

North Tahoe won the 2A state championship with rounds of 333 and 322 for a 655. The Lakers beat Lake Mead by 22 strokes, who finished at 677. 

West Wendover (352-325-702) placed third and Incline (385-370-755), Needles, Calif., (411-391-802) and Oasis Academy (402-423-825) rounded out the team scores.

Sierra Lutheran’s Brock Walters won the individual state title with a 2-under par 142. He shot even-par 72 on day one and 2-under par 70 on the final 18 holes.

Lake Mead’s Nicklaus Dubois and West Wendover’s Emilio Graham each shot 153 to place second and third, respectively.

North Tahoe’s Jaxen Perryman was fourth at 153 after a final day 73 and Oasis Academy’s Trevor Halloran finished fifth at 155.
