Obituary: Curtis Eugene Buhl

Curtis Eugene Buhl, 63, died May 4, 2022 in Winnemucca, NV.  He was born January 29, 1959 at Battle Mountain, Nevada, the son of Herbert E. and Janean (Welch) Buhl.  

As a child, Curt lived in Empire and Getchell Mine, Nevada.  The family moved back to Battle Mountain when Curt was 8 years old.

Curt graduated from Battle Mountain High School in 1976.  Following graduation he completed the journeyman program with the Carpenters Local 971 Union in Elko, Nevada. 

From there he went on to get certified as a millwright which led to his lifetime career of welding and fabricating.  Curt was one of the hardest working individuals you’d ever meet.  He made it his life’s goal to provide for his family.

Curt played baseball in high school and was part of the Winnemucca bowling community.  

He was a lover of the outdoors.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and boating.  Curt was also a master with duct tape. “Everything is fixable with duct tape,” he used to say.  He also had a love for his pets, especially the family favorite German Shorthaired Pointers.

He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, Al and Louise Buhl and Adam and Geneva Welch. 

He is survived by his wife of the last 6 years, Elizabeth, his son and daughter, Brandon Curtis and Misty Dawn, of Eugene, Oregon; granddaughter, Kaydence Rae Fontana; a sister, Linnea (Buhl) Cochrane and her husband Steve, of Reno, Nevada, his nephew Erik (Candice) Cochrane, his niece Nicole (Peter) Donaldson, his niece Stephanie (Chris) Margaronis, and his niece Chelsea (Denver) Crumback, and their families.

 A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 21st at Winnemucca Christian Fellowship, 4380 Grass Valley Road, Winnemucca.  Interment will be at the Battle Mountain Cemetery.
