Four Longhorns qualify for 2A state tournament

The Battle Mountain High School boys golf team was in West Wendover on Monday, May 9, for the Northern 2A Regional Championships at Toana Vista Golf Course.

The Longhorns shot a round of 433 to finish third, but six strokes short of reaching the state tournament as a team. 

West Wendover used its home course to its advantage to win the regional championship with a round of 385, the only school to break 400. 

Oasis Academy out of Fallon was second at 427 and the other state qualifier.

Mineral County (544), Wells (635) and Jackpot (661) rounded out the team standings.

Trevor Hallaron from Oasis Academy was the individual medalist at 81 and West Wendover’s Kameron Keith (86) and Emilio Graham (91) were second and third, respectively.

Battle Mountain’s Max Villanueva, Colton Mills, Brice Domagala and Spencer Thompson earned spots in the state tournaments as individuals. 

Villanueva was fourth overall at 97 and Mills was sixth with a round of 101.

Domagala earned a top-10 finish, placing ninth with a 115 and Thompson was 13th with a 120. 

Dalton Shake shot a 147 at the regional tournament.

The NIAA 2A State Championships were held Monday and Tuesday at Chimera Golf Club in Henderson. Results were not available at press time.
