Humboldt River Field Office published a Federal Register Notice for Conveyance of Public Land for a fire station

WINNEMUCCA – The Humboldt River Field Office has published a Federal Register Notice to convey a 5-acre parcel of public land located in northwest Humboldt County off Highway 140 and Big Creek Road.

The Notice of Realty Action was published on April 28, 2022 in the Federal Register and has initiated a 45-day review period.

Humboldt County applied for lease and subsequent conveyance of the land to construct a rural fire station and storage for county road maintenance equipment.

The land would be leased during construction and then conveyed to the county when construction is complete, pursuant to the Recreation and Public Purpose Act (R&PP) of 1926, as amended, and regulations at 43 CFR 2740.

Currently, the Pueblo Fire Protection District has one volunteer fire station located in Denio, Nevada, which is approximately 36 miles away. The additional fire station would allow volunteer fire fighters to respond and begin suppression of wildland fires more quickly.

Information concerning the proposed R&PP project, including the environmental assessment, are available for review during business hours, 7:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Friday, except during Federal holidays, at the BLM Humboldt River Field Office. Project documents can also be viewed online at https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/2011153/570.

The 45-day review period will end on June 13, 2022.
