Disbro, Bengoa, Duggan, Ayers win at Laker Invitational

The Battle Mountain High School track and field team made its way to western Nevada this past Thursday for the Laker Invitational at Pyramid Lake High School.

Junior Jolena Ayers picked up a pair of victories for the Lady Longhorns. She took home the top spot in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 40 seconds and she set a personal best in the tripe jump at 33 feet, 1.75 inches to take home the title. In addition, she earned a runner-up finish in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 13.53 seconds.

Lindsey Bleak was second in the triple jump with a mark of 24-5.25, a personal best and the freshman was sixth in the 200 meters with a personal best of 33.57 and eighth in the 100-meter dash at 15.28, another personal best.

Jennifer Galvin was third in the 1,600 meters with a personal-best time of 6:40.89 and the junior placed third in the shot put with a toss of 26-1. She was 10th in the discus at 20-3.

Lilly Peterson finished third in the long jump with a mark of 12-1.75, 10th in the 200 meters with a personal best of 35.92 and 13th in the 100-meter dash at 15.71.  Tessa Ostler set a personal best in the 400 meters to finish third at 1:14.10. She ran another personal best in the 200 meters to finish seventh with a time of 33.57 and she was 18th in the 100-meter dash at 15.87.

Emily Lisabelle finished fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 3:24.86 and 10th in the 200 meters in a time of 35.92.

Yezzel Guizar placed 16th in the shot put and 19th in the discus and Divine Jacobson was 25th in the shot put and 27th in the discus.

The 4x100 relay of Ayers, Bleak, Galvin and Ostler were second with a time 58.61.

On the boys side, junior Sean Bengoa won the high jump with a personal-best mark of 5-8. He was second in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 25.27 and third in the 100-meter dash in a personal-best time of 12.13.

Ben Disbro took home the top spot in the shot put at 39-2 and was second in the discus with a toss of 102-6. Zach Duggan led a 1-2 finish in the 110-metr hurdles at 20.84, a personal best and Blake Stuart was second at 22.07, also a personal best. Duggan placed 11th in the 200 meters in a time of 27.55 and he was 11th in the long jump with a mark of 14-0. Stuart was 14th in the 200 -meters with a personal-best time of 28.62.

Aydan Samuelson was the runner-up in the shot put with a toss of 37-0.50 and was fifth in the discus with a personal-best throw of 95-0.  Ernesto Leon was seventh in the discus at 86-2 and 11th in the shot put at 29-2. Ben George was 13th in the shot put (28-4) and 16th in discus (72-9).

Julian Sosa (1:09.24) and Antoine Powell (1:09.72) were 10th and 12th in the 400 meters, both personal bests and Sosa and Powell were 23rd and 24th in the long jump. Ben George placed 13th in the shot put and 16th in the discus and Alex wall was 27th in the 200 meters.

The 4x100 relay of Bengoa, Armando Eusebio, Stuart and Duggan were second with as time of 49.82.

Battle Mountain hosts its track meet on Friday.
