Pershing County softball blasts Incline in triple-header sweep

The Pershing County softball team started league play last Monday.

They opened on their home field with a final score of 15-0 against the visiting Incline Highlanders.

Saturday the Mustangs traveled to the Pete Livermore Complex in Carson City for the last two games of the series. Lovelock came out on top in both games 17-2 and  21-5.

“The girls mesh well and support each other,” said coach Jordan McKinney. “These games were a good start to our conference schedule.”

In the opener, Lovelock jumped out to an early lead with nine runs in the first inning. Incline improved over the series, managing five runs in the last game, but they never caught up with the Mustangs.

Anna Happy (5) tried third base for the first time over the weekend.  Miya Gallagher (14) pitched the second game of the series and recorded her first win.

The Mustangs stand at 7-1-1 overall and 3-0 in the Northern 2A.

They traveled to Silver Springs on Tuesday, March 22. Results were not available at press time.

Pershing County hosts the Nighthawks on Saturday at 10 a.m. and noon.
