Pershing County baseball team drops three games to Incline

Incline posed a challenge to the Pershing County High School baseball team over the week. Pershing County hosted the Highlanders on Monday and lost 21-1 in a rough start to league play.

On Saturday Pershing County traveled to Incline Village. The Mustangs dropped the final two games of the 3-game series with scores of 16-2 and 10-3.

On the bright side, the coach saw growth over the week as the Mustangs faced the top-ranked team in the 2A. Lovelock went into the bottom of the sixth inning of the final game down by only 7-3, an improvement over Monday’s loss.

“We saw our bats come to life this weekend with Tyler Miller having a great game hitting,” said coach Jared Jensen. “We also saw Denzel Zaldivar get a single on a bunt. The overall team showed improvement and I believe we can build off the games going forward.”

On Tuesday, March 22, Pershing County traveled to Silver Springs to play the Silver Stage Nighthawks. Results were not available at press time. On Saturday, they’ll host the Nighthawks at 10 a.m. and noon.

The Nighthawks currently stand at 1-4-1, overall, and 0-2 in the Northern 2A.
