Julianne Etta Fane Roberts Huckaby of Fernley, Nevada passed away on March 4, 2022 at the age of 81. Julianne (Midgie) was born in 1940 in Alexandria, Louisiana and lived until she married James (Freddie) Huckaby.
They moved to Nevada where she resided for 58 years. Midgie graduated from UNR and taught 25 years in Lander County, NV in Austin and Battle Mountain.
Midgie loved sewing, quilting, shopping, and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed college football and basketball, especially cheering on UNR and LSU teams. She was a lifetime member of the UNR Alumni Association. She was a breast cancer survivor who attended cancer walks regularly.
She loved to play Words with Friends, Candy Crush, and connect with friends on Facebook. She looked forward to her conversations with her Aunt Bobbie every Sunday.
She is survived by her husband, Freddie; daughter, Courtney (Andy) Rorex; son, James (Dawn) Huckaby; granddaughter, Amy Huckaby; grandsons, Caden Rorex and James R. Huckaby; Aunt Bobbie Bayham, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews in Louisiana and Texas.
She will also be missed by her devoted dog, Ruby, who was always by her side.
A Celebration of Life will be later held at a later date to be determined.
