Obituary: Maria Del Carmen Borland

Maria Del Carmen Borland passed away on March 6, 2022, in Winnemucca, NV at the age of 74. She was born on July 26, 1947, in Sevilla, Spain to Manuel and Trinidad Domingues.

She studied nursing at the University Eutríc Holland and worked at the Embassy in Den Haag, Holland.

She loved to travel, she was a military wife for over 20 years, which scratched that travel itch of hers. She got to see a lot of countries and many states through the United States.

She loved the experience of living in the different places but there was always no place like home - Nevada.

Maria loved hiking, camping, hunting, working in her yard with all her flowers and riding her ATV and motorcycle. She was a people person. She loved to help others who were barely making it on what they had.

She loved all her friends’ children and supported them by going to their games, football, basketball, or soccer, it didn’t matter what sport, she was there cheering them on.

She is preceded in death by her son, Carlos J. Borland, who was killed in the line of duty as a Nevada Highway Patrol in 1993.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy L. Borland, her daughter, Carmen Swinkels (Frank) and her grandchildren, Miriam, Jazzman, Demy, Christinia, and Manu.

Maria will be cremated, and her ashes will be spread on her favorite mountain once the weather dries up.

The Borland family would like to thank Pastor Kliewer and his family and all of Maria’s friends who have called or came by to reminisce.
